A short note on criticism, scepticism, and the difference between the two.
Hindering is criticism and scepticism without a matching effort toward progress. It belongs in a different time and place. Now is the time for helping.
We welcome the awkward question, the second look, the senior person who has seen this fail before. Pointed scrutiny improves the work; it has earned its keep many times over. What we cannot use is the steady drumbeat of objection from people who would rather the project stalled than risk being wrong about a detail.
The test is simple. Did the comment make the next decision easier, or did it just slow the room down. The first is criticism, and we want more of it. The second is hindering, and there are quieter rooms it can happen in.
